nie moge dojsc do opcji uzupelniania bazy danych kodow za pomoca Sieci.
Zalaczam instrukcje z helpa, ale nie moge znalezc na IRCu sugerowanych

I have a problem with my Hard drive. When i downloaded diagnostic program
from samsung's website (Hutil), i wanted to try the option SET SECURITY or
something familiar.I setted the password and then i rebooted my PC. During
rebooting on my screen i saw something like this:

PPL ROM FFC:(tryies from 1 to 5) not found.
What happend? Before this operation everything was good. At least i need
software to delete this password. Disc is detecting by bios but that is all.
Now, when i run again Hutil, i couldn't see this option "SET SECURITY" and
most options are "locked".
I don't know what happend

tak zmodyfikowanym, aby wysyłał hasło do ciebie. Możesz spróbować
skopiować plik z hasłami przez sieć np. otoczeniem sieciowym lub jakimś

The official answer to your question is "When it is ready".  You may
quote it if you like.  It expresses quite good that Debian has no
marketing or public relations department that decides when a release
has to be made, but depends on the developers to choose the time and
software that they feel is ready for release.

I don't think that anybody in the project can predict a date for the
next release.  There will be one to three freeze and test cycles in
which the software and installation will be stress tested, the number
depends on how well the first/second goes.  However, as a first
requirement the debian-installer needs to work on all systems, which
is still a lot of work, although a huge amount of work has been done
in the past, especially on two development camps.

So, the next release will happen when it is ready, but we don't know
when this will be.  We hope that we can release soon, but it depends
on quite a lot of issues.

Explore2fs and for example ext2fs plugin for Total Commander both
supports only ext3 filesystem. I don't know if there is any easy
to use tool for ext3 but you may try VMWare. It's a bit more
complicated software so be warned.

I don't know whether this is of anyuse to you.  I stumbled across it
whilst working out how to use GRUB with windows XP.

Fedora site has packages for Fedora. :) If this is not enough for you please
tell what do you need? Seriously built-in package repositories work very well
and contain lots of free/open source software. Try using built-in package
management tool.

If you mean additional repositories holding stuff like binary drivers,
multimedia support, additional packages I can recommend: http://atrpms.net/ and
http://freshrpms.net/ - please read documentation on these sites regarding how
to set them up.

Also please note that these repositories are NOT part of Fedora Project and MAY
break your installation or do something worse. If they do don't come
complaining to me or Fedora.

I don't think that there would be any such a big updates to FC2 :/
Downloading FC3 is rather necessary...

As usual the release time of Fedora Core has been delayed few times
because of some bugs :-)

I've just noticed in 3.2 of the SBM Userguide;
"If you want to boot linux with Smart Boot Manager, you must install LILO into
the Superblock of your linux partition, instead of into MBR! "

I have found information about LILO through Google, but no way to download it. I
have also skimmed the Lilo "Howto" - quite alarming!

I suppose it might be on the CDs which I have of Ubuntu 5.1 or PCLinuxOS, but I
don't know enough about commands to investigate, or to copy it to a drive.
Perhaps you could attach LILO to an e-mail to me? It's evidently quite a small
program. But I need advice about how to install it into the "Superblock" - what
does that mean?

you should download higher knoppix version such as 3.6 maybe there
will be driver for your card, or you also should look at the
google.com to find these driver and include it in your knoppix cd
(intitle:index.of "DWL650+"), p2p...
- or... when you have hard disc knoppix installation this would be a
little easer. maybe it will be enough to just right reconfigure your
knoppix... i don't know

You can also boot from floppy disk and install the rest of the system via

 or is there is some way to set in w2k that spooler will stop

I didn't think about OOo or Mozilla, and I suppose that author of thread
didn't think about it either. In fact OOo needs very much RAM, and using it
with Pentium I (that's what author said) will be very painful with every
amount of RAM ;)

I don't use KDE/Gnome and other such featured environments.
I've got Celeron 600 with 256MB of RAM. To be honest I do most things in
console applications in xterms ;)

Where have those commands gotten you?  What do they do?  When and how do you
execute them.  "The devil is in the details" you know ....

All I know is make compiles or recompiles executables .... but I don't know
how to make it work...

I try (as simply as I can) to help You:

1) ./configure <- checks if everything what is needed to install the
software is
in good place. If everything is correct - it create's file that contains
script
which is needed to install software

2) make <- ist is a command which cause that the software is compiled -
while
compiling all libraries and executable files are created

3) make install <- it put's created in previous step files in correct place

4) make clean <- clear all created files (used sometimes to uninstall
programs)

BTW if I have done any mistakes (grammar) sorry - I'm still learning english

I installed the CDRW, the lilo.conf settings appear to be correct.
I launched xcdroast (ver 0.98alpha9) the first time as superuser and made
the initial configs (or thought I did...).  When I tried to run it as normal
user from the command line, I got these command line warnings:
"Installation problem?  No set-uid bit on /usr/bin/mkisofs"
"Installation problem?  No set-uid bit on /usr/bin/readcd"

and this X-cd-roast popup: "
No configuration file found Please enter setup."

the first two sound like some kind of permission problem.
I don't know why it says no config file found ...

you're right, this is the permission problem
you say thay you configured the program as root, then look for its config
file in the /root directory, you'd probably like to copy it to your user's
home directory (remember to chmod it so that normal user can write into it)

to burn cds you need root privileges (at least for now)
i suggest to add your user to the group that can write|read to the device
do ls -l /dev/your_cdr_device and check its group
then as root edit the /etc/group file so that the name of the user appears
in the same line the name of the group is, for example
cdrom:x:24:dms (cdrom - the group's name, 24 - the group's number, dms - the
user's name)
then the users who belong to the cdrom group (the name doesn't matter, the
group needs to be able to write to the device, you can set it with chown or
chgroup commands) shall be able to use xcdroast easily

it would be better if you didn't run the X Window programs as root since it
may cause harm to the system (at least change too many permissions) 8-)

Is using the ctrl-alt-del a safe way for users who don't have the root
password to shutdown the machine?  Wait until the "stopping processes" quits
and the screen is momentarily black and then cut the power?

Rozstaliśmy się w mocno "toksycznej" atmosferze. Wydawałoby się że wszystko
już zostało powiedziane. Na "chłopski rozum" powinienem zapomniec o niej,
wymazac z pamieci itd. Ale serce to nie "chłopski rozum";). Nie moge
przestać o niej mysleć, chciałbym cofnąć czas, wymazać z pamięci te złe

 Fedora Core 5 has been released a few days ago. Should be stable.
 I don;t know what you have put on these 200MB (I haven't read the
online guide), but on my FC4 only the system files occupy 3.2GB (just
for your information). But perhaps you've partitioned your drive in a
different way.

 I haven't done this personally, perhaps someone will give you more
precise information.
 Try booting from the first CD in 'rescue' mode and install the
bootloader (GRUB) on the first HDD (it will be called 'hda' or
'/dev/hda'). Then reboot and set your BIOS to boot off the first HDD,
just to be sure.
 As a temporary solution, search the web for the Smart Boot Manager.
It can be put on a floppy and after being booted by BIOS, it can boot
any system off any HDD, floppy or CD-ROM drive.

I have followed that advice - didn't need to go into BIOS as I know anti-virus
is disabled there, and the standard boot order is floppy-cd-HDD0.

So I copied sbminst.exe directly to C: and then inserted the command
'C:sbminst.exe -t us -d 0' as you specified in the Run box at Start.

It came up with a reference to an inaccessible dll in a Symantec file
uninstalled and deleted long ago, which I bypassed with "Ignore" - then it
proceeded, offered the option to save, which I accepted. (Where to? The floppy
is now reported not formatted by Windows).

On re-booting, SBM appeared, listing drives but no systems. I tried Help, and
then selected HDD1, [F4] for Active, and [Enter].

After some delay, a message at the top of the black screen reported:
Error loading operating system.
I tried this twice. I tried "Scan all partitions" in the Help or
Menu options, with no result.

Next I did an Upgrade of the Fedora installation from the DVD. Surprisingly, it
reported no bootloader installed, so selected Install, and specified the default
/dev/hda, and MBR in the Advanced options.
The device default was Fedora Core /dev/VolGroup00LogVol00

Finally it reported no kernel items installed but you said that is normal for an
upgrade. The procedure completed, and ended by ejecting the DVD and told me to
re-boot - which it did - in Windows.

I stopped that and tried again with the SBM floppy - SBM appeared as before -
all drives, no partitions or systems - I selected HDD1 with the same result as
before -
Error loading operating system.
Then I tried selecting HDD0, to give GRUB a chance - but it went straight into
Windows. I removed the floppy and let it proceed so that I am now completing
this e-mail!

BTW, the total disk space on my 200 GB HDD shown by Windows is 186.31 GB, so
about 10 to 14 GB is occupied by Fedora. (I don't remember the exact total
size). As I understand it, GRUB should already be installed on HDD-0, but is
ignored by Windows.

server uses UTF, and that your .html files are encoded properly in utf.

No to nie jest regula.

You can mount each partition in the fstab for the other partition. For
example, your /etc/fstab in Mandrake can contain an entry for the RH
partition. That's all you need to know about mounting them, apart from
knowing the device name of each partition and deciding on mount points.

The only problem as far as permissions are concerned is that any user in
Mandrake might not have the same uid (user id) and gid (group id) as in Red
Hat. I don't know how RH numbers its uids and gids but in Mandrake they
start at 501. And user 501 in Mandrake might be some other user or might
not even exist in Red Hat. You can find out your uid and default gid, plus
the list of groups to which you belong, by issuing the 'id' command in a
console.

The easiest way round the problem as far as I know is to create a group in
each system that has the same gid in each system (see the groupadd
manpage). You then add your own username to that group in both systems (by
adding it to the end of the line in /etc/groups). When you work on files
you want to share, you switch to that group (see the manpage for the newgrp
command), and always make sure those files are owned by that group (using
the chown command where necessary). You'll also need to make sure that the
permissions on those files are both readable and writeable for that group
(using chmod). That way you can either copy them across, or simply work on
them in the mount point in which they were created.

If you want more information on the above, you can check the manpages for
'mount', 'fstab', 'chmod', 'chown', 'groupadd', and 'newgrp'. If you want

Looking at the drives from Mandrake 8.1's control panel mount point utility
... on my hda drive, besides, windoze I have a /windata, an ext / (for
mandrake 8.1), a swap and a /LinuxDat partition. On my hdb drive, I have one
that I have called /RH51root_hdb1.  When I boot to RH 5.1 and check out the
mount points using RHS Linux File system manager I have a / at dev/hdb1, a
swap and nothing else.  Actually, I guess I don't know how to get RH to see
the data partition or Mandrake, win on hda. ?

Do I have to repartion and reload in some other way so that RH can see the
mandrake or ext2 data partition?

No problem :))

You must know which parittion is which :)) If You know - Mandrake partition
is /dev/hda1 You should modify Your /etc/fstab file
add the line
/dev/hda1               /mnt/mandrake           ext2    noauto,owner,ro 0 0

then simply
mount /mnt/mandrake

It doesn't matter how partitions are called - the most importatn is
where they are...

Write how Your first and second disk is partitioned
for example:

Ponieważ większośź facetów, którym się podobam myśli, że jestem głupia i
beznadziejna

Drodzy grupowicze,

żegnam się z Wami ponownie -- i znowu nie obiecuję, że na zawsze, więc nie
cieszyć mi się tam z tyłu. Jednak chwilowo konwersacje, w których
uczestniczę wydają się nie prowadzić do niczego, trolle mnie już nie bawią,
dodatkowo zaś zgodnie z myślą ś.p. Alterka -- nie odczuwam tak naprawdę
potrzeby przebywania w jakiejś grupie tylko dlatego, że grupa ta ma ze mną
wspólną orientację seksualną.

Dziękuję obecnym za miłe chwile i obiecuję zapomnieć o niemiłych, mam
nadzieję, że mogę liczyć na to samo z Waszej strony.
